What It Does
CabCorner.com connects people located in the same general area who are headed the same direction around the same time. "Cab-sharing" lets you split the fare, thus accommodating a more affordable transportation option than solo taxi travel, and a more comfortable option than mass transit alternatives!

History
In the summer of 2008, Jonathan McKinney approached Jesse Sommer to develop a revolutionary idea: “cab sharing.” By connecting individuals located in the same general area and headed in the same direction, they sought to utilize taxicabs’ “unused backseat real estate” and make taxi transportation affordable to a wider segment of the population. They further believed “cab sharing” could drastically reduce the pollution associated with taxi travel. In the coming months, the dynamic team they assembled built a website that would serve as an environmental and financial solution.
The CabCorner prototype launched in New York City in early 2009, a few months prior to the initiation of NYC’s own street-based cab-sharing program. Extensive media praise fueled the startup company’s ambitions, and development of its new global platform began in 2010.
That April, the nascent cab sharing industry consolidated when Cabcorner, LLC acquired its primary competitor: CabEasy.com. The partnership thus positioned CabCorner as the web’s leader in cab-sharing technologies and logistics. (Click to read the Press Release.)
At 12:01am on Memorial Day, May 31, 2010, the new CabCorner website went live. To date, CabCorner has facilitated hundreds of shared Rides throughout the United States.
